Legal Awareness and Assistance Camp Successfully Organised at Mahakaushal University

On 28 April 2026, a Legal Awareness and Assistance Camp was successfully organised at the Mahakaushal University campus under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority. The primary objective of the camp was to promote legal awareness among students and the general public and familiarise them with the available Free Legal Aid Services.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. R. P. Choubey, Registrar of the University, stated that a university is not merely a centre of academic learning but also an important platform for promoting social awareness. He emphasised that such legal awareness programmes connect students with real-life social issues and inspire them to become responsible citizens.

The chief speaker on the occasion was Mr. B. D. Dixit, District Legal Officer (DLO). He provided a detailed overview of the structure, objectives, and functioning of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). He explained that the organisation primarily aims to ensure accessible and free legal services for weaker and disadvantaged sections of society.

He also elaborated on the efforts to facilitate access to justice through Lok Adalats, legal aid schemes, and counselling services. Highlighting the important role of Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs), he explained that these volunteers act as a bridge between society and the justice system.

While addressing the law students in particular, he encouraged them to understand their responsibilities towards society as future legal professionals and to utilise their legal knowledge in the service of the community.

At the conclusion of the programme, an interactive Question-and-Answer Session was held, during which students actively participated and received answers to their queries.

The programme was conducted by Mr. Gargi Shankar and Ms. Shobha Mishra, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Yugank Khare, Head of the Department.

A large number of students and faculty members of the University attended the event, reflecting the importance of promoting legal awareness and access to justice within the academic community.
